Ramon_Cairo Deaf Unit

When Ramon, age 11, first moved to Greater Cairo he did not feel confident.
Anyone would find it hard to leave their old home and make new friends, but for a deaf young person, the challenge is even greater. Things started to change for Ramon when he met a student from The Deaf Unit, one of Embrace’s Partners in Egypt, at his local church. Ramon was inspired and excited to see if The Deaf Unit would be the right place for him to study too.  He says,
‘My father and I went there to tell them my story, and I was accepted!  This has given me hope because I have a chance to get a job in the future and earn an income.’
Your generous support is helping many deaf young people like Ramon find acceptance and access education.

Habib_Ahmed_SIRA school

8 year old twins Habib and Ahmed are residents of the Azzah Refugee Camp.  Both have special educational needs and have previously struggled to access school. But thanks to you, life has changed for them. When a social worker from SIRA School, an Embrace Partner project, visited their family, a new path of possibility was opened to them. Attending SIRA School has brought new joy and confidence for the twins.  Ahmed, who had delayed speech, now expresses himself more clearly and most enjoys English lessons. Habib’s enthusiasm for school is clear to see! Each morning she wakes up longing to go to school and dreams of one day becoming a teacher herself – giving others the hope and bright future that has been shared with her at SIRA School.

Farid_Awareness Foundation

Farid’s family had to flee from East Syria to escape the fighting. Now that they have moved to safety, Farid has been able to join the Little Heroes programme provided by Awareness Foundation. When Farid first arrived he was extremely anxious and timid, only communicating by whispering. Farid’s parents told Huda & Nadim, programme leaders, that when living in East Syria they had to whisper at all times to avoid being discovered by Isis – this had led Farid to believe that speaking out loud was dangerous. The Little Heroes team have worked closely with Farid and his family, building his confidence, addressing his trauma and helping him to accept that he can now enjoy life in safety and security, trusting the new friends around him. Finally, at 9 years old, Farid’s whisper of hope is getting louder. Farid is just one of many Little Heroes who can now shout a message of hope to the world because of the love and support they have received. Thank you for shopping with Embrace and making this care and support, for refugee and displaced families, possible.
